most law enforcement leadership training sucks.

As a sergeant, you literally hold the most important position within the department. The decisions you make not only can affect officers’ careers but can also mean the difference between an incident’s success or failure and even life and death.

On top of that, sergeants are expected to lead effectively up and down the chain of command, holding officers accountable while still taking care of your team.

But simply getting promoted didn’t necessarily prepare you for all the difficult supervisory situations you find yourself in.

Supervisors (and their officers) deserve better.

At The Briefing Room, we believe supervisors should have clear, practical ways to work through difficult situations. You should have modern training that gives you the confidence to be the supervisor that everybody can count on..

A promotion gives them the rank. Preparation gives them the ability to lead.

Stripes is different

That’s why The Briefing Room is teaming up with our partners at Savage Training Group to bring you the first ever Stripes conference – three days of practical training for sergeants that you won’t find anywhere else

At The Briefing Room, we help supervisors train their officers during briefing and roll call on the most important aspects of policing. Savage Training Group provides classroom training focused on the real situations supervisors face on the job. We’re both passionate about delivering training that doesn’t leave you wondering how to apply it on your next shift.

Together, we’re creating STRIPES to focus on your development as a supervisor. Learn simple, practical frameworks for difficult field and personnel situations.

Better supervision is one of the most effective forms of risk management an agency can provide.

Professionally trained supervisors develop exceptional officers.

They set clear expectations, correct problems before they spread, and give their people the confidence to make sound decisions when it matters most.

Their influence strengthens performance, accountability, officer safety, and morale throughout the agency.

When agencies invest in better supervisors, they build stronger teams, reduce preventable risk, and create a culture of excellence that extends far beyond the people who attended STRIPES.

Preparing better supervisors is simple.

SPEAKERS

They set clear expectations, correct problems before they spread, and give their people the confidence to make sound decisions when it matters most.

Their influence strengthens performance, accountability, officer safety, and morale throughout the agency.

When agencies invest in better supervisors, they build stronger teams, reduce preventable risk, and create a culture of excellence that extends far beyond the people who attended STRIPES.

Imagine what better-prepared supervisors could do for your agency.

They recognize problems earlier.

They make better decisions during critical incidents.

They communicate expectations more clearly.

They correct poor performance before it spreads.

They reinforce safe practices before someone gets hurt.

They take ownership of what happens on their shift.

One well-prepared supervisor can influence the performance, safety, and decision-making of an entire team.

Training for the people wearing the stripes and the people working toward them.

The people closest to the work are also closest to the risk.

Reduce exposure by investing in the people closest to the risk.

Many liability and workers’ compensation claims begin with conditions supervisors have the ability to influence.

Supervisors reinforce policy. They review reports. They manage critical incidents. They address unsafe behavior. They recognize fatigue and performance problems. They determine whether warning signs receive attention or are allowed to grow.

STRIPES gives public-sector risk pools an opportunity to invest directly in the supervisors managing these risks every day.

  • Fund conference registrations for member agencies.
  • Provide scholarships for newly promoted supervisors.
  • Sponsor liability and workers’ compensation programming.
  • Bring practical risk-management training back to multiple member agencies.
One investment can produce better-prepared supervisors across an entire pool. Explore partnership opportunities
